PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deviation in the track of an emitted electron by suppressing the electrification of a spacer constituting an image forming device which uses a cold cathode electron source. SOLUTION: The driving time of the element closest to the spacer is divided. Concretely, the driving time (t) (100μs) needed in one frame is equally divided into three and the elements closest to the spacer are driven sequentially with timing shift of 1/180 (sec). The discharge current from the element which is driven is up to 1μA for each element. Consequently, the maximum valueΔVsat of the electrification potential in the center of the spacer is about 50 V. In this case, the maximum valueΔVsat of the electrification potential in the center of the spacer is smaller than that when the driving time is not divided as before. That is, theΔVsat is suppressed by about 20 V when the driving time is divided into three than when not. Here, the driving time is equally divided into three, but some effect is obtained even by 2 or >=4 division.
