PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a coating fluid for the production of an electrophotographic photoreceptor capable of forming a thick uniform surface layer as the surface layer of a photosensitive layer, less liable to adversely affect the global environment and the human body and excellent in work efficiency and to obtain an electrophotographic photoreceptor using the coating fluid, having a photosensitive layer including a thick surface layer and having a long service life. SOLUTION: The coating fluid contains at least an electric charge transferring material, a binder and a halogen-free solvent which dissolves the electric charge transferring material and the binder and has 210-1,000 mPa.s viscosity at 20 deg.C. The electrophotographic photoreceptor has a photosensitive layer including a surface layer having >=28μm thickness formed by applying and drying the coating fluid.
