PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide the subject probe formed from a luminescent semiconductor nano-crystal compd. capable of being bonded to affinity molecules and capable of emitting electromagnetic radiation with a narrow wavelength band upon excitation, having a wide absorbing band without the presence of a red radiation tail part and capable of detecting an absorption change. SOLUTION: A luminescent semiconductor nano-crystal compd. forming this probe and bondable to affinity molecules can generate luminescent, absorption, scattering and diffraction when it is excited by an electromagnetic radiation source or corpuscular beam and can show a detectable absorption change and a semiconductor nano-crystal capable of emitting, scattering and diffracting radiation with a narrow wavelength band is pref. This probe contains a connecting agent connected not only to this semiconductor nano-crystal but also to affinity molecules. That is, by bonding the luminescent semiconductor nano-crystal compd. to affinity molecules bondable to a detectable substance in a material, an org. luminescent semiconductor nano-crystal probe can be formed.
