A gaseous contaminated air stream (10) is passed through a contactor unit (4) through which is circulated an absorbent liquid (5,6,7); the unit may operate with a partial bleed stream. The recirculated absorbent is preferably cooled by passing through an indirect heat exchanger located within a cooling tower or evaporative cooler.
