PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability when inputting a position to a navigator for a vehicle or the like by analyzing an image that has been picked up and detecting a position being indicated by a finger on a printed map, and setting the position as an input position. SOLUTION: A crew picks up the image of a printed map and a finger on the map by a CCD camera 1. At this time, before the image is to be picked up, guiding broadcasting is made so that a point to be inputted from a speaker 8 can be pointed by a finger. The image that has been picked up is subjected to image processing to detect the upper and right ends of the printed map. Then, the attribute data of the printed map that has been specified from a memory 4b is read, numbers at a display position are recognized according to the display position data and the font form data of a page number, and the number of an open page is detected. After that, in a map region that is surrounded by the upper and right ends of the pickup image, the image pattern of a finger being stored in the memory 4b is used for performing pattern matching by a normalization correlation, and an indication position on the map is detected for calculating relative coordinates, which is converted to a position on the earth. |
