PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To efficiently calculate reliability information through the use of a software output detector by receiving first and second samples from a transmitted symbol, evaluating an algebraic expression on the samples and a priori information and deriving reliability information from the algebraic expression. SOLUTION: A reception device (a) receives samples ya,m-1 and ya,m (402). The group (ya,m-1 h*a,m-1 x*m-1) of a first product and the group (ya,m h*a,m x*m) of a second product are evaluated and stored. The products are calculated related to all possible symbols xa and xm-1 (406). When the received sample is generated in a modular without a memory, a representative expression generated by calculating reliability information is derived (410), and an a priori items is added (411). A maximum value is derived from the group of a decided value. The group of the value is decided by selecting the list of a value, corresponding to the symbol xm associated with a bit with which reliability information is calculated (418).
