PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge type lamp without gas leakage and having a long service life, and to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: This discharge type lamp 10 has a quartz glass vessel 2 having a discharge space 2c and a pair of electrode rod insertion holes 2d; and a pair of electrode rods 3 inserted through the respective electrode rod insertion holes 2d, facing each other within the discharge space 2c. A sealing film 7 is at least partially interposed between each the electrode rod 3 and each the electrode rod insertion hole 2d through which the electrode rod 3 is inserted, to seal the discharge space 2c and to shut up a gas.
