PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a broadcast receiver that receives a broadcast wave on which broadcast data of a plurality of channels are time-division-multiplexed to select a desired channel, easily finds out a channel newly starting broadcast and can select the channel. SOLUTION: In this broadcast receiver, a CPU 8 recognizes all broadcasting channels and registers them into a memory on the basis of a header obtained by a header read circuit 6 of a TDM demodulation circuit 4 at the point of time of starting the reception of the broadcast wave. Then the CPU 8 compares the channels recognized at the reception start point of time with the channels registered in the memory 9 to discriminate the presence of a new channel. When discriminating the presence of the new channel, the CPU 8 lights a new channel display light 16.
