PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract the same area irrespectively of a reading mode by providing a writing area control means to extract a desired part from image data developed by being read by every line from the read image data and a control means to shift a signal showing the effective part of the image data by the level corresponding to difference between the entire area and one part of area of a document. SOLUTION: In a writing area control means b, a writing area is controlled by extracting the image data for every line from the image data extended and developed by being read from an image memory 4 by a developing means 5 under control of a control means 9 based on an extracting instruction from a setting means 8. In the control means 9, phase of respective horizontal effective signals are shifted by inserting a shift signal at the head of a horizontal effective signal showing the effective part of the image data when the image data for one screen is transmitted from the developing means 5 to the writing area control means 6. Thus, partial copy of one side reference is achieved from the image data of a center line reference which is read by using an automatic document feeder.
