PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lower a manufacturing cost by reducing the number of part items, and besides, to exhibit stable shock absorbing action. SOLUTION: This device is equipped with a bracket having a supporting part for supporting a steering column and a mounting seat on a car body, and a shock absorbing member 9 which is plastically deformed with the relative movement of the steering column to the car body at the time of shock action so as to absorb impact energy. The shock absorbing member 9 comprises a platelike member having a connecting part 10 which is fixed on the car body integrally with the mounting seat of the bracket and also separated from the mounting seat with the relative movement of the steering column to the car body at the time of shock action, and a shock absorbing part 11 which is connected to the connecting part 10 and plastically deformed with the separation of the connecting part 10 from the mounting seat. |
