<p>Actual vehicle speed (Vs) and actual vehicle spacing (L), between the controlled vehicle and a preceding vehicle, are sensed and a driving/braking force acting on the controlled vehicle are regulated. A controller controls the speed (Vs) or the spacing (L) in a following control mode (FM) and changes to a deceleration control mode (DM) if anti-lock brake control is started in the following control mode (FM).
