PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas barrier film and a package excellent in gas barrier properties required in airtightness at a time of the packaging of food, medicines, chemicals, medical machineries or electronic parts, easily openable at a time of the taking-out of content and suitable for packaging an article. SOLUTION: In a gas barrier film wherein a heat-sealable resin layer is formed on the outermost surface of a gas barrier laminate wherein an inorg. oxide membrane layer is formed on the surface of a plastic film, the tear resistance value of a heat-sealed part formed by heat-sealing the surfaces of heat- sealable resin layers is 1 N/15 mm or less.
