PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a photoreceptor with UCL comprising a good anodic oxidation film which does not crack in drying by heating attendant on the formation of a photoconductive layer even if the degree of pore sealing is increased so as to enhance the characteristics of the photoreceptor and even after spontaneous pore sealing proceeds because the anodic oxide film is allowed to stand over a long period of time. SOLUTION: The photoreceptor has UCL 2 comprising an anodic oxidation film having >=4×1010/cm2 cell density on an aluminum alloy substrate 1. The photoreceptor is produced by electrolytically treating the aluminum alloy substrate 1 in a sulfuric acid bath at <=1.2 A/dm2 of current density and using the resulting anodic oxidation film as the UCL 2.
