PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow one remote commander having provision for a common code to remotely control all devices to be controlled having provision for a common format by using a new custom code with a remote control signal format for a common code used in common by each manufacturer. SOLUTION: The remote control system comprises a remote commander MCr having provision for a common format that has a transmission function of its own company code system in compliance with a conventional format and transmits a common code in a common format and of devices A-E to be controlled each having a decoder decoding a code of the conventional format. In this case, a common format provision mark to indicate provision for the common format is sealed to the remote commander MCr and the devices A-E to be controlled. By using the system configuration above, one set of the remote commander can control a plurality of devices to be controlled.
