摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the wind resisting performance of an edge box girder bridge, by forming corner cuts having a specific size, at a specific location separated from an upper end of a girder edge upper portion toward a bridge central portion, and at a box girder at a girder edge lower portion. SOLUTION: A bridge girder 1 is constituted of a floor slab 2, box girders 3 each arranged at a girder edge lower portion of a bridge girder, felloe guards 6 each arranged at a girder edge upper portion of the bridge girder, and balustrades 9. The felloe guard 6 is arranged at a location spaced a distance a1 away from the girder edge 5 toward the bridge central portion, and a concave corner cut 9 is formed between an upper surface of the girder edge and the felloe guard 6. Further, a concave corner cut 4 is formed at a corner of an outside lower portion of the girder 3. On this occasion, the sizes a1, a2, a3, a4 of the corner cuts 4, 8 are made the same and assume a value almost equal to 1/9 a girder edge height D. When crosswind blows, separated flow at the bridge girder corner interferes with separated flow at the felloe guard 6 corner, and therefore the flow approaches the felloe guard 6, to thereby prevent generation of whirl. Further, the interference by the separated flow generated at the corner cut 4 allows the flow to approach the girder 3, to thereby prevent generation of whirl. Thus, the wind resisting performance of the bridge can be drastically increased, and therefore the edge box girder is applicable to a long large bridge.
