PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lighting means for a liquid crystal section for a portable information unit, having no uneven luminance that makes the profile of a liquid crystal display section thin. SOLUTION: The portable information unit is provided with a printed circuit board 2, that takes charge of function control and a liquid crystal section 21 that displays various data. The liquid crystal display section 21 has a lighting means, whose lighting components 22 such as an LED are mounted on a side face of the printed circuit board 2 of the liquid crystal section 21 by means of COG and has an irregular reflection sheet 23, that irregularly reflects light onto the printed circuit board 2 at a position at the liquid crystal section 2 facing opposite to the side face of the printed circuit board 2.
