PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a resin composition that inhibits the generation of a hydrocyanic acid during the combustion although the composition contains nitrogen in its structural unit. SOLUTION: This resin composition comprises (a) 100 pts.wt. thermoplastic synthetic resin having nitrogen in its structural unit and (b) 0.1-20 pts.wt. iron compound catalyst which comprises one kind or more iron oxide compounds selected from iron oxide particles and hydrated ferric oxide particles both having an average particle size of 0.05-2.0μm and which has a specified oxidation activity.
