PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact pump having a high head and capable of maintaining high efficiency even if the number of revolution is changed for operation and capable of lowering frequency of the maintenance while eliminating the contamination with the foreign matter by crushing or cutting it. SOLUTION: In this pump, a rotor 1 is arranged inside a rotor chamber as the external driving method, and a volute casing 10 for recovering the pressure of the flow of the discharged fluid is provided in the downstream of the rotor chamber, and furthermore, plural straightening plates 9 for straightening the flow are radially arranged in relation to the cross section of a flow passage in a suction part in the upstream of the rotor chamber. A rear end of the straightening plate 9 facing to the rotor 1 is formed into an arc rear edge 14, and the rotor 1 is provided with a vane train, which is set so as to be arranged at the optimal inflow angle in the case of the rated operation with the predetermined space from the arc rear edge 14 of the straightening plate 9, inside thereof, and furthermore, a foreign matter lock tool 9a for catching the foreign matter included in the fluid is provided between the straightening plate 9 and the vane train.
