PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressed image reproducing device, capable of drastically reducing a memory required for reverse reproduction. SOLUTION: A compressed data read section 2 reads compressed image data from the top of a compressed image group to a display image designated by a reverse reproduction control means 5 from a hard disk 1 and an image- decoding section 3 decodes the image data. Only the designated image in the decoded image is outputted to an image display means 4, on which the image is displayed. Until reverse reproduction of data in the compression image group is finished, the reverse reproduction control means 5 designates an image, whose display sequence is smaller than that of the displayed image by one or more, each time the image is displayed and applies similar processing to the designated image.
