PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image processing unit that can comparatively easily set borders of different kinds in originals without the need for using special job separator sheets and can set an image mode to each of the originals whose borders are set. SOLUTION: Detection means 16, 17 detect borders of different kinds in a plurality of originals by using conventional originals for separator sheets and differentiating the size of the separator sheets from that of the other originals, and image processing control means 5a, 5b instruct image processing depending on the kinds of the detected borders. Thus, the image processing mode is more simply set than the case with using special job separator sheets and mode diversification can easily be dealt with.
