PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an explosion-proof sealing structure of a cylindrical alkaline battery that has a fracture-inductive groove for inducing the fracture of the case of the battery properly at a given pressure without adversely affecting the appearance and with increasing the space for mounting the elements required for generating electricity. SOLUTION: The opening of the positive can 1 is closed by a plastic gasket 30 and negative metal terminal plate 20. The gasket 30 tightly contacts the negative terminal plate 20 having a circular plate part 21. The gasket 30 includes a fragile case part 32 tightly contacting the circular plate part 21, the inside of which is provided with a semicircular fracture inductive groove 23. The internal pressure of the can increased to a given value expands the fragile case part 32 enough to break it together with the fracture inductive groove 23, releasing the gas pressurized in the can 1, and thus preventing the explosion of the battery.
