PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flush toilet having a washing method suited to the case, where a surface treatment layer is formed on the surface of a bowl. SOLUTION: During cleaning of a water closet, the washing water is supplied from a branch hole 42 to a rim water supply passage 43 and discharged to a guide recessed portion 24a, formed by depression to a gutter shape almost in the horizontal direction along the upper edge of the bowl surface (exposed surface 24 in detail) of a bowl portion. Rim-shot washing water RS discharged in this way causes turning almost in the horizontal direction along the upper edge portion on a bawl surface, while being guided by the guide recessed portion 24a, thereby creating branched flows at various places from the revolving main flow, and is transmitted and drops down along the exposed surface 24. A surface treatment layer is formed on the surface of bawl surface in the region, where the rim-shot washing water is transmitted and drops down. Then the rim-shot washing water moves merely by sliding on the surface treatment layer, thereby causing no collision or the like on the surface of the treatment layer.
