PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a technique suitable for collecting a soil sample in an unstirred state and capable of collecting it very simply in a short time even at a large depth in particular. SOLUTION: This large-depth type sampler is provided with an intermediate pipe 2 between a thin wall tube 1 and a boring rod 4, a first clamp 5 having a wedge 25 biting a drill-like rod 35 protruded at the tip of a rope 34, supporting a piston 3, and liftable against the intermediate pipe 2, and a second clamp 7 biting the intermediate pipe 2 to prevent its movement only when the first clamp 5 is moved upward against the intermediate pipe 2. The first clamp 5 is provided with a first releasing means 6 releasing the lock of the drill-like rod 35 with a heavy bob 37 inserted from the upper end of the boring rod 4, and the second clamp 7 is provided with a second releasing means 8 releasing the lock with the entry of the drill-like rod 35.
