PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain uniform cooling by preventing a cooling effect near the center inside of a device from being lowered in a picture reader for optically reading picture data from a document to be a reading object. SOLUTION: The picture reader 10 is provided with a reading mechanism part 12 for executing operation required for reading picture data from the document, a device frame body 14 formed so as to cover the part 12, an outside air intake 15 provided on the side surface of the frame body 14 and an exhaust fan 16 provided nearly in the neighborhood of the center of the bottom surface of the frame body 14.
