PURPOSE: An apparatus for convergence correction in a TV receiver with a CRT display is provided to ensure that convergence alignment is maintained during broadcast video reception. CONSTITUTION: A convergence correcting device in a television receiver having a CRT display contains a display screen(101) having photosensors (S1-S8) arranged adjacnetly to the edges of the screen(101). A cathode-ray tube GCRT generates a raster for illuminating the screen(101) and photodetectors. Signal generators(310, 500) surely maintain convergence alignment while a broadcast video is received by illuminating the screen(101) and sensors (S1-S8) by generating video signals AV having first portions (alignment signal picture blocks M) for convergence adjustment and second portions (APL1) having a video signal amplitude sufficient to generate the average level of the beam current loading (IG) corresponding to the average level which can occur while the broadcast video is received.
