PURPOSE: To grasp final print results clearly and quickly prior to standard printing by performing 'test print' for printing an image on a tape while reducing the character string and tape width at the same reduction rate with respect to standard print. CONSTITUTION: 'Test print' means printing of a reduced image onto a tape prior to 'standard print' in order to grasp final print results and 'standard print' means printing of a desired matter with a set size. 'Trial print' is carried out at high speed with reduced print energy while reducing the tape width, tape length and character string at a rate of 1/3 wherein two parallel lines indicative of the tape width and tape length are arranged vertically on the left and right. The tape length is rounded at the second decimal place and denoted in units of 0.1 cm while the tape width is denoted in units of mm.
