PURPOSE: A tool chucking structure for rotary lathes has separately mounted adjustable setting elements set on tool holder and associated bearing positions on tool support to ensure accurate fit. CONSTITUTION: A tool holder(3) which holds the tool and fits into the socket of a lathe or tool support(1) has at least two spaced setting members(26) which are guided free of play. At least two contact bearing positions associated with the setting elements are provided on the lathe(1) and when the tool holder is inserted in the sockets(4,5) the setting members lie tight against the bearing positions. The setting elements can be accurately adjusted in angular position and/or axial position of the tool holder relative to the socket through adjusting means on the holder associated with the setting members.
