PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically detecting a UFO of a cathode-ray tube is provided which automatically detects only pure flash and UFO radiated on an effective frame of a screen to judge the detected one as a quantitative value, to prevent products from being damage and improve productivity. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically detecting a UFO of a cathode-ray tube includes an earthing means(20) for earthing an explosion-protecting band(3) of the cathode-ray tube, a power supply(30) for applying a high voltage to an anode(2) of the cathode-ray tube in order to generate a UFO at the marginal portion of an effective frame of a screen, and a light detector(40) for sensing the UFO radiated from the marginal portion of the effective frame to convert the sensed UFO into a current value. The apparatus further has an amplifier(50) for amplifying the current value, and a means(60) for comparing the amplified current value with a predetermined current value to display if the UFO is good or bad.
