PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance recording speed while reducing conspicuous recording irregularity due to reciprocal scanning. SOLUTION: Among image data to be recorded corresponding to scanning, the recording duty is calculated for a plurality of different regions under scanning, a scanning direction is determined depending on the recording duties of the plurality of regions and then recording is performed according to the determined scanning direction.
