PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a data repack processing efficient in a disk control system in a log structuring writing system. SOLUTION: All physical stripes are sorted in the order of generating time and whether they are made into a repacking object or not is decided in the order from the one with the oldest generating time. In this decision processing, a valueαto indicate ratio of the number of valid blocks and a valueβto indicate ratio that logical addresses of adjacent blocks are continuous are calculated. A repack processing is executed for the applicable physical stripes on condition that 'αis equal to or smaller than a fixed value A' or 'αis larger than the fixed vale A andβis equal to or smaller than a fixed value B'. Thus, the repack processing is preferentially performed for the physical stripes with old generating time, frequency of generating new write to data integrated by repack is suppressed as low and generation of a useless repack processing is prevented.
