PURPOSE: A defrost apparatus for refrigerator is provided to reduce manufacturing cost and allow assembly procedures to be executed in a convenient manner by simplifying the structure of the heater arranged for defrost operation of the evaporator. CONSTITUTION: A defrost apparatus comprises an evaporator(2) having a refrigerant pipe(2a) for refrigerant flow and a pair of holders(3a,3b) for supporting both ends of the refrigerant pipe; a defrost water collection unit(30) arranged underneath the evaporator so as to collect the defrost water generated from the evaporator and discharge the collected defrost water to the outside through a defrost water drain path(32); and a heater(20) having an upper section(20a) arranged to be adjacent to the lower end of the evaporator, and a lower section(20b) extended downward from the upper portion of the heater and arranged to be adjacent to the defrost water collection unit. The upper section of the heater performs defrost operation for the lower part of the evaporator, and the lower section of the heater melts ice pieces contained in the defrost water collection unit.
