PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate requirement for detecting thickness of a transfer material every image forming process, and to perform the optimal image forming control for the thickness of the transfer material from the start of the image forming. SOLUTION: The thickness of the transfer material is detected, not during image forming process, for example during attaching of a paper feeding cassette.
