PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a valve lifter capable of decreasing friction in relative motion between a lifter shim and the valve lifter. SOLUTION: In an outer shim type valve lifter used for an internal combustion engine, a crown surface center part of the valve lifter contacting with the lifter shim is projected 10-25μm from an outer peripheral part to form a projected shape.
