PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reading device 1 capable of reducing line drawings generated in formed images without contaminating a document or a transparent base plate by preventing precipitation of petroleum oil from the surface of a carrying member on the upstream side in a document carrying direction. SOLUTION: In an image forming device to carry a document 9 to a document reading part 14, and read images on the document 9 by the document reading part 14, an upstream carrying part and a downstream carrying part are provided respectively disposed on the upstream side and the downstream side of the document reading part 14 in a document carrying direction, and at least in the upstream carrying part, members (a sheet feeding roller 10, a separating roller 11, an intermediate roller 12, and a resist roller 13) to get in contact with the document 9 to be related with carrying of the document 9 comprise material without including petroleum oil. The document 9 is not contaminated by petroleum oil precipitated from the carrying members of the upstream rollers, or a transparent base plate 15 is not contaminated.
