PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance scuff resistance and durability of a print surface by coating the print surface printed as prescribed by an ink jet system without using a transparent film or a liquid-like coating agent. SOLUTION: This ink jet printer comprises an ink head for printing by an ink jet method while moving on a recording sheet, a thermal transfer head for transferring a coating agent by a thermal transfer method while moving on the sheet, and a control means for controlling so that the head transfers the agent by the thermal transfer method on the sheet printed by the head by the ink jet method.
