The device has a long machine frame (1) with a row of several roller pairs, each of an upper and a lower roller. The roller pairs (31,32) in the front and central frame sections have horizontal cylindrical roller surfaces. One or more pairs (33,34) in the rear of the frame are warping elimination rollers with upper and lower conical rollers. These form two complementary cooperating roller surfaces, so that steel plates or strips pass between the conical rollers after coming from the front/central roller pairs, and are subjected to a return force to remove the warping.
