PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carrying mechanism having an ear tip-holding and carrying device, which can reduce labors for removing clogging grain culms, when the carrying clogging of the carrying device occurs. SOLUTION: This ear tip-holding and carrying device of the combine harvester, in which each holding tine 26 attached to an endless chain 25 in a posture-switchable state is switched from a stored posture to an ear tip-holding posture by the contact of a cam 26A formed in the base end portion of the holding tine 26 with a posture-switching member 27 disposed on the start end side of a grain culm carrying route, and then kept in the ear tip-holding posture by the sliding contact of the cam 26A with a guide rail 29 disposed along the grain culm-carrying route, is characterized by forming a protuberance 26B projected in the direction opposite to the projected direction of the cam 26A in the base end portion of each holding tine 26 and forming at the carrying direction final end position of the guide rail 29, and a contact portion 29a which is brought into contact with the protuberance 26B to switch the stored posture of the holding tine into an ear tip-holding posture, when the endless chain 25 is rotated in the reverse direction.
