PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having marine aromatic and use thereof in marine fragrance composition. SOLUTION: A 1,2-substituted 2,3-dihydro-1H-5,9-dioxacyclohepta[f]-inden-7-one and a 7-substituted benzo[b][1,4]dioxepin-3-one have fresh marine aroma. Marine fragrance is emphasized without generating fish odor even at high dosage by formulating perfume with these compounds to impart volume, radiance and richness in character to the perfume.
