PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a seating detecting system for correctly detecting a seating position of an occupant without influenced by a seating condition of the occupant, a seat condition, and an obstacle. SOLUTION: A seating detecting system 1 is provided with a first distance detecting means 4 arranged on a seat back 3 of a front passenger seat 2, an angle detecting means 5 for detecting a tilting angle of the seat back 3, a sliding amount detecting means 6 for detecting a sliding amount of the front passenger seat 2 when sliding it in the longitudinal direction, a second distance detecting means 24 mounted on an instrument panel 10, and a data processor 7.
