PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a digital camera technology by which an image with a designated pixel number in response to the requirement of a photographer can be obtained. SOLUTION: The digital camera reads charges of all pixels of a CCD to acquire an image signal with a 1st pixel number and reads interleaved charges with respect to a pixel array of the CCD to acquire an image signal with a 2nd pixel number smaller than the 1st pixel number. Furthermore, a user can designate any of pixel numbers as to an image size of a photographed image. When a photographer desires consecutive shot, applying pixel interpolation processing to the image signal with the 2nd pixel number magnifies and converts the image with an image size of a designated pixel number. Moreover, when the photographer desires an image with high image quality, applying pixel synthesis processing to the image signal with the 1st pixel number applies reduction conversion to the image with a size of a designated pixel number. Thus, the image with the designated pixel number in response to the requirement of the photographer can be obtained.
