PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an AC electromagnet with an exciting coil using a simple strand wire compared with conventional ones without increasing the eddy current loss. SOLUTION: In an AC electromagnet having an exciting coil 111 winding several times the conductor around a magnetic pole, the exciting coil 111 set near a gap part of the magnetic pole is structured with a strand wires 120 which are twisted together of many element wires, and the exciting coil 111 set far from a gap part of the magnetic pole is structured with hollow conductors 130.
