PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oxide superconducting wire material and its manufacturing method, in which the required items for a barrier material are satisfied. SOLUTION: In the manufacturing method of oxide superconducting wire material, plural element wires having nearly circular cross section, in which at least one of the superconducting filaments 2a is coated with a metal 3a, are stranded to form a stranded cable 5, and the diameter of the stranded cable is reduced to form a wire material with nearly circular cross section, having a prescribed outer diameter. When processing for reducing the diameter at the latest, the titanium oxide powder 4a is adhered between the element wires and the titanium oxide layer is interposed between the segments of the obtained wire material.
