PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrodeless low-pressure discharge lamp, such as has only a little transmission loss and is suitable for a panel structure of miniature size, provided with a handy light source as simple and handy as possible. SOLUTION: A plasma is generated inside an air-tightly sealed lamp bulb 2 by coupling the input of a high-frequency electromagnetic field to the inside of the bulb. A radiation generated by the plasma is emitted along a specified optical axis 10 from the lamp bulb 2 through at least one transparent body 20, which is shaped as a focusing lens transparent to UV radiation, being mounted at a first end face 15. At least one shield of 7, 8 or 9, which has a hole or an opening consistently extended along the optical axis 10, is installed within the range of the plasma.
