PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an original reader which is provided with two optical read parts and can accurately and appropriately perform shading correction in the case white boards for shading correction exist at both a DSPF side and an original platen side. SOLUTION: A 1st reference white board for shading correction of a 1st optical read part provided integrally with the DSPF that should read the both surfaces of an original is provided under a 1st original read position, and a 2nd reference white board for shading correction of a 2nd optical reading part which moves under the original platen and is used for both both-surface reading and one-surface reading is provided on the same surface as the original placing surface of a 2nd original read position. The shading correction of the 2nd optical read part is performed regardless of the opening/closing of the DSPF when the power is on (S1). The shading correction of the 1st optical read part is not performed when the DSPF is opened (S4 and S5) but is performed when the DSPF is closed (S3 and S4).
