PURPOSE:To provide a coating compsn. excellent in prevention of winding of a newsprint base paper around an offset rotary press by compounding polyvinyl alcohol with a specified amt. of a specific alkylene oxide adduct. CONSTITUTION:A coating compsn. is prepd. by compounding 100 pts.wt. polyvinyl alcohol with 1-15 pts.wt. at least one compd. selected from the group consisting of compds. of formulae I, II, III, IV, and V [wherein R<1>, R<3>, R<4>, and R<5> are each 10-24C alkyl; R<2> is H or methyl; n and m are each 1-10; p and q are each 0-15 provided p+q is 2-20; r is 1-15; s and t are each 1-2 provided s+t is 3; A is (CH2CH2O)u; B is (CH(CH3)CH2O)v; X is a group linking unit A to unit B; u is 5-60; and v is 10-100] and, if necessary, further with a solvent, various additives, another water-sol. resin, etc. |
