APPARATUS FOR MANUFACTURING GAIN FLATTENING FILTER IN USE OF OPTICAL ATTENUATOR

PURPOSE: An apparatus for manufacturing a gain flattening filter is provided to achieve transmittance curve by various wavelengths and to reduce its size and manufacturing processes by using an optical attenuator with nonuniform transmittance distribution and constituting the filter with single long period optical fiber grating. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for manufacturing a gain flattening filter comprises a light source, an optical attenuator(300), and an amplitude mask(310). The gain flattening filter consists of an optical fiber(320). The optical attenuator consists of a plurality of sections having different optical attenuation rates along lengthwise direction, and attenuates incident ultraviolet from the light source with predetermined optical attenuation rate. The amplitude mask selectively transmits light passed through the optical attenuator and irradiates the same to the optical fiber. The sections of the optical attenuator have the same length.
