GLUCOSIDE AND CELLOBIOSE MEDIA AND TEST METHODS FOR REPLACING VOGES-PROSKAUER AND CITRATE TEST IN IDENTIFICATION OF MICROORGANISM

PURPOSE: Glucoside and Cellobiose media and test methods for replacing Voges-Proskauer and Citrate Test in identification of microorganism are provided, thereby conveniently detecting biochemical characters while identifying microorganisms in a kit. CONSTITUTION: The Glucoside and Cellobiose media are produced by adding 10.0g of peptone, 0.5g of NaCl and 0.108g of phenol red into 1 liter of distilled water and adjusting the hydrogen concentration of the media to pH 7.2; sterilizing the media at 121 deg.C and 15 psi for 15 minutes and cooling the phenol red broth base to 40 to 45 deg.C; and adding 45 to 50g of pasteurized glucoside or cellobiose into the phenol red broth base. The method for detecting the glucoside or cellobiose decomposition activity of microorganisms comprises the steps of: inserting the glucoside and cellobiose media into a kit; drying the kit; inoculating microorganisms into the kit; and incubating the kit at 37 deg.C for 18 to 24 hours.
