PURPOSE: A method for inputting an idiom of a mobile communication terminal is provided to quickly and conveniently input a character by storing a frequently used sentence as the idiom or an idiom format and inserting the idiom into a sentence for which a user wishes. CONSTITUTION: A control unit judges whether an inputted key is a key inputted for selecting an idiom(103). If the inputted key is the key inputted for selecting the idiom, the control unit converts a character input basic mode into an idiom input mode and displays an idiom menu on a display window(105). If a key is inputted for selecting an idiom additional menu(109), the control unit converts the idiom input mode into an idiom additional mode and displays a character input window on the display window(111). A character series according to the input of a character key and a direction key is displayed on the character input window, and if a completion key is inputted, the writing of the character series is completed(113). The control unit judges whether a storing key is inputted(115). If the storing key is inputted, the control unit performs an operation corresponding to the inputted key(117).
