PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make variable speed reproduction surely executable. SOLUTION: Data for variable speed reproduction (for example, sixteen-fold speed reproduction) are dispersably recorded, at positions which will probably be traced at performing of variable speed reproduction. The recorded data are those which generate I pictures, when for example, data compressed by the MPEG method are recorded.
