PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air conditioner which is improved in cooling capacity and compressor durability by preventing a high-pressure refrigerant gas from flowing in the low-pressure side of a compressor and, at the same time, sufficiently supplying oil separated by means of an oil separator to the low-pressure side of the compressor. SOLUTION: This air conditioner is provided with the compressor 10, a condenser 30 which is installed to a high-pressure line 11 connected to the high- pressure side of the compressor 10, and an oil separating section 20a which is provided between the high-pressure side of the compressor 10 and condenser 30 and separates lubricating oil from the refrigerant gas discharged from the compressor 10. The air conditioner is also provided with an oil holding section 20b which holds the oil separated by means of the oil separating section 20a, an evaporator 40 which is connected to the low-pressure side of the compressor 10 through a low-pressure line 12, and an oil returning passage 50 provided between the oil holding section 20b and low-pressure line 12. In addition, a valve 60 which is opened and closed by pressure differences is provided on the course of the oil returning passage 50.
